"I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated being a part of the tasting experience of the beautiful vintages of Chateau Brane-Cantenac. I have never done a vertical that even comes close to this….This taught me a lot…. I don't usually say this, but the younger vintages just blew me away. I am so impressed with the concentration and richness of wines like the 2003. That wine will live many many years…..and these wines are still somewhat affordable for those of us who love great wine and need affordability too. In tasting all these wines, I would say that the distinguishing features that I noticed relate more to the secondary characteristics. …not so much about big fruit extraction as it is about the earth and soil and underbrush nuances..and the balance too. The alcohol levels were never too high in any of these wines. I guess I should begin drinking more French Bordeaux (like this)!!
I had a chance to converse with Henri Lurton at the end of the dinner. He is a really genuine person….so gracious and easy to talk with…and very young for his age too. I hope that he will remember his experience for a very long time…and I hope that he will come back again.
The meal was great. I saw people lifting their bowls to get the last drops from the bottom of the spectacular seafood stew. And the Filet Mignon dish was also perfect. This might have been one of the most perfect meals (with wine) that I have every experienced…at least for me personally.
