THE MARCH 2012 LE VINUM GIVES BRANE 2009 A 17.5
"Superbe Beerenaromatick, Tannine exquisiter Art, saftiges, langes Finale. Herrlicher Wein!! 2018 bis 2030"
Even if you don’t understand German, it’s easy to guess that Rolf Bichsel, the taster, really enjoyed it!
LE FIGARO RECOMMENDS BARON DE BRANE 2009
This past March 29th, Le Figaro included Baron de Brane 2009 in its selection of the best Médoc second wines.
Here’s what Bernard Burtschy said:
The Baron de Brane by Brane-Cantenac, a Margaux second growth wine, is an elegant, straightforward wine with an intense blackcurrant flavor, nice clean fruit and an impressive finish. It is best to wait awhile due to its reserve of tannins. Will keep for eight years.
LIVEX lists Brane-Cantenac as one if its top 3 purchases in 2011!
Positive review and impressive score by Michel Bettane for Brane 2011
Immense finesse and distinct nose, long aftertaste, delicately spicy, subtle, a classy, early-maturity wine showing the château's progress…17-17.5/20
Wine and art…delightfully compatible!
Marisa D’Vari also gives a positive review of Brane-Cantenac 2011 and speaks of Eric Boissenot’s vernissage in her blog “A wine story”, just as Nicolas de Bouyn does in his blog “Bon Vivant”

Translation
On April 4, I was invited to a fabulous party celebrating the marriage of art and wine.
Each year, Henri Lurton, owner and winemaker of the 2nd Growth Brane-Cantenac in Margaux, invites an artist to kick off the new vintage. Last week, Eric Boissenot, a famous oenologist and amateur photographer, kicked off the annual series “Brane seen through the eye and lens …”
Mr. Boissenot’s work will be on display until March 2013. As fabulous as the artwork is, the new vintage is fantastic.
I had tasted the wine blind earlier during a formal blind tasting organized by the UGC and was glad to see when the tasting was over and the scores compared, it received one of my highest ratings that read:
‘purple color, subtle fuschia rim, very subtle yet focused aroma of ripe, sweet, concentrated plums with a hint of tobacco. Juicy palate of very sweet ripe fruit, chewy and mouth filling with elegance. Accent of Prince Edward cherry tobacco. Finish is rich, satisfying and intensely structured with concentrated, well balanced fruit and tobacco. Will continue to improve for decades.
Many older vintages were also offered at the Boissenot event, and they paired well with his art!

A SHORT BREAK FOR PEOPLE NEWS!
Maria Martinez Ojeda, our quality and hospitality manager, and her husband Jérémy, are the proud parents of a little Gabriel, who was born on Friday, April 13th at 7:22 pm. He weighed 3.720 kg and was 51 cm long. According to his mom, this little angel is “perfectly healthy and as handsome as Apollo, of course!!!!” It couldn’t have been otherwise…the proof is in the picture!
Brane’s new mascot!
The whole team at Brane-Cantenac congratulates the proud parents. Welcome to the world dear little Gabriel!
The Brane 2011 appears popular among Europeans…perhaps slightly less among Americans!
René Gabriel from the magazine Wein Wisser gave Brane 2011 a 17/20, writing the following in conclusion: “a fantastic, quiet wine in the thunderous world of Bordeaux!!"
Thanks, René!
As for Rolf Bichsel from Vinum who was at Brane for a tasting yesterday, he said word for word ‘It’s really the best Brane wine I’ve ever tasted’…’Precise, fine, elegant…a very great and impressive wine that I even prefer over the 2010'!
Stay posted for his official commentary and rating, but this confirms what we have learned after the comments by James Molesworth and James Suckling…this wine is a wine that will first and foremost be appreciated by European connoisseurs and wine-lovers!

2011: One of our first positive reviews by Swiss journalist Yves Beck
“Nice intensity on the nose with a symbiosis between slightly cooked fruits, such as prunes, and red fruits, such as raspberry and grenadine. The Cabernet also appears. In the mouth, the wine has a smooth attack and a somewhat creamy character. The tannins, which appear slowly, are perfectly sound and slightly grainy. They are thus able to blend with the structure which ideally conveys the fruit. A promising, balanced wine. Elegant, subtly fruity finish. 2016-2025".
91-92/100"
There’s a reason for us all to be in good humor!
