Margaux Saveurs

On Saturday, November 14, some of the Brane team’s members participated in the “Margaux Saveurs” weekend.

This wonderful day started with an extremely interesting visit of Château Rauzan-Gassies, led by Mrs. Anne-Françoise Quié. We had the pleasure of tasting the 2004 vintage of the three Quié wines: Château Rauzan-Gassies, Château Croizet-Bages, Château Bel-Orme Tronquoy Lalande. This experience allowed us to assess the effect that terroir can have on a same vintage.

We were then awaited at Château Rauzan-Segla, where Mrs. Céline Defrance entertained us in style. We were lucky enough to taste their magnificent Cabernets Sauvignons and the 2009 Merlots and to observe the differences between the Médoc region’s two main grape varieties. We finished with a Château Rauzan-Segla 2007.

A succulent lunch at Le Savoie brought an end to the first part of our day. Like always, we were splendidly welcomed by Chef Philippe Villet and his entire team.

After this revitalizing lunch, our tour took us to Château Lascombes, with Ms. Anaïs Lafourcade, who taught us the basics of tasting sweet-bitter flavours at various concentrations - a very educational experience! We also tasted Château Lascombes and their Chevalier de Lascombes, both from 2006.

This truly pleasant day ended on a sweet note at the Mademoiselle de Margaux chocolate factory.

Thank you to everyone for their hospitality and to the organizers. Here are a few pictures of the day:
